A sweet genre for the Valentine’s Day Season
In these trying times, I set out to deliberately sweeten up my TBR — especially during February, the month of love. Reading is a wonderful distraction. In my quest, I came across an interesting new-to-me term: meet-cute. I had to learn more.
A Nod to The Traditional Rom-Com
A meet-cute is a trope in books and movies where the main characters meet in a sweet, humorous, or unusual way and eventually fall in love. Since I’ve never read a meet-cute novel, I’ll use my favorite romantic movies to illustrate the trope.
Meg Ryan’s romance movies are perfect examples. Think When Harry Met Sally, Prelude to a Kiss, and Joe Versus the Volcano, to name a few. (Ryan was the queen of these films!)
